A multi-disciplinary 1-year course which covers various different creative subjects, and basic principles of design. Aimed at those with an existing interest in art and design, as an introduction to a range of creative subjects and/or the opportunity to develop skills further, whilst working toward a Level 3 Certificate in Art and Design

  • Weekly Wednesday sessions, 10am - 3pm
  • Choose 5 units out of 6 available
  • Fee: £1075, payable as £215 per unit

  • Limited to 8 students per course

Students will be designing and making finished items for each unit, based on a personal theme that runs throughout the course.
There are 6 different units, and students will be required to select 5 of the following:

Unit 1 - DRAWING
Working with mediums such as charcoal, pastels and pencil and covering areas like perspective, shading and observation

Unit 2 - METALWORK
Learning the basic principles of working with metal, and using copper, aluminimum and silver* (*silver extra cost)

Unit 3 - TEXTILES
Experimenting with decorative textiles techniques such as batik, silk painting and machine embroidery

Unit 4 - GLASS 
Covering the traditional stained glass copper foiling technique, and also the fused glass process

Unit 5 - PRINTMAKING
Discovering lino or woodblock relief printing, and also drypoint intaglio printing

Unit 6 - PAINTING
Learning painting techniques including acrylics, oils and watercolours, on canvas and on paper
