Your Embellisher Machine
COURSE OUTLINE:
An embellisher machine, or needle-felting machine, can be used to create some exciting effects in textile art. Using an image as inspiration, you will experiment with using your embellisher and a range of fabrics and fibres in a painterly way, creating a set of samples and working towards a finished piece of textile art.
The course will include short demonstrations to the group by the tutor when required, with the majority of the course taking the form of practical progress on your own personal project, and individual guidance from the tutor when required
COURSE PROGRAMME:
Session 1: Analysis of image and selecting fabrics; painting silk fabric
Session 2: Producing samples using: base fabrics, silk, sheers, velvet, woven fabrics, wool and silk tops
Session 3: Producing samples of: layering, blending, edges and lines; starting work on finished textile piece
MATERIALS PROVIDED: Range of fabrics and fibres suitable for use on an embellisher; silk painting materials; small sketch book for samples and notes
ADDITIONAL NOTES: Please bring along your embellisher machine, spare needles if you have them, and any fabrics and fibres you would like to experiment with. You will also need a photo or image as inspiration to work from, for example a landscape
