Landscapes in Pastels

Chalk pastels come in a wide range of colours, and in the form of pencils or sticks, and can be used in a variety of different ways to create artwork.
This workshop will introduce you to the tutor’s technique of using chalk pastels, learning how to analyse your chosen image, how to select and make colours, how to blend colours together, how to use light and dark tones, and how to introduce white as a highlight, to create beautiful landscapes from photos or images.
The course will include short demonstrations to the group by the tutor when required, with the majority of the course taking the form of practical progress on your own personal project, and individual guidance from the tutor when required

Session 1:  Demonstrations and exercises using charcoal and then pastels to familiarise yourself with the techniques used

Session 2: Choosing an image to work from; analysing and selecting colours; practising samples if required; start work on final piece
