Pictures in Fused Glass

Fused glass as a medium can be used in a painterly way to create images, with the added interest of texture. Using a combination of painting on glass with enamels, and working with frits (glass granules) and powders, layers of colour and texture can be built up to create a feeling of depth. This workshop does not involve any glass cutting
The course will include short demonstrations to the group by the tutor, with the majority of the course taking the form of practical progress on your own personal project, with individual guidance from the tutor when required

Demonstrations of various techniques using glass materials, and making small personal samples relevant to chosen image
tea break
Analysis of chosen image to be created; planning of finished piece as layers; begin work in final piece (tutor to cut base glass as required)
lunch break
Continuation and completion of finished piece

Range of coloured glass enamels and binders; glass frits and powders; clear base glass; all necessary tools and equipment

Please wear closed in shoes (no sandals), and bring a packed lunch
If you have a specific image or photo you'd like to work from, please bring it along - maximum size 30cm square. There are also plenty of landscape books at the studio for inspiration.

Please note work will need to be left at the studio for firing (which usually takes about 3-4 weeks), and will need collection from the studio afterwards
