30-day Sketchbook Challenge

sketchbooks pile      sketchbook paint       sketchbook materials

Come along to the Sketchbook Challenge 'Bring and View' afternoon on Sunday 12 November, 2pm - 4pm
Bring your sketchbook (completed or unfinished!) along to the Artworks Studio, and have a look through everyone else's whilst enjoying a cuppa - see the wonderful variety of ways others have interpreted the list.

The Artworks Sketchbook Challenge is our annual fundraiser for Cancer Research UK - last year over 150 sketchbooks went out, raising a fabulous £1450!
Your challenge is to choose a subject from a list provided, and draw/paint/create something different every day in the sketchbook provided, every day for up to 30 days (that's up to 30 days non stop back to back, no sneaky days off!)...and that's it!

  • Anyone can take part, whatever your age or artistic ability
  • You can draw, paint, print, collage, stitch, photograph, use any medium or material you like to do your 30 pages of creativity
  • You can begin your challenge anytime that suits you, and choose any number of consecutive days you'd like to do
  • You simply make a donation of minimum £10 to take part, to Cancer Research UK
  • You are then provided with an A4 hardback sketchbook together with your list of 30 things to create
  • Sketchbooks can be collected from the Artworks Studio, Sindles Farm, Aldsworth, near Emsworth, PO10 8QS, in return for your donation as either £10 cash or a cheque payable to Cancer Research UK - please call or email to arrange a suitable day and time to collect
  • NEW! This year you can also make a donation on www.justgiving.com/Artworks-Studio
  • NEW! The Oxmarket Gallery in Chichester (off East Street, at the back of Little London Car Park) has kindly agreed to be a collection point for sketchbooks, but please make your donation BEFORE collecting from them - you'll need proof of donation to pick up your sketchbook
  • Too far away to collect in person? There won't be a postal option this year as the sketchbooks are large and heavy, but for a donation of £5 you can request  a '30 things' list sticker, and accompanying guidance notes, so you can purchase your own sketchbook to work in - you can either: make your donation on the justgiving page and email your postal address to [email protected]; or send an SAE and your donation (£10 cash or cheque payable to Cancer Research UK)to the Artworks Studio, Sindles Farm, Aldsworth. Emsworth, PO10 8QS
  • At the end of the challenge (deadline end of September 2017) everyone is invited to a 'hand-in' exhibition in October 2017, giving you the opportunity to bring along your sketchbook to share with others, and have a look at everyone else's sketchbooks too - celebrating the fascinating range of approaches to the same list, and the fantastic efforts of participants
