Thursday morning Textiles sessions are for anyone with an interest in Textiles, and cover a wide range of creative techniques and materials - stitching, machine embroidery, feltmaking, patchwork, knitting, dyeing, bagmaking, quilting and much more.
Choose which sessions you’d like to attend, from a varied programme of creative mornings.
You may be required to bring certain materials and/or your sewing machine to particular sessions, otherwise all materials and equipment are provided and included.

26 SeptemberMOSAIC FABRIC: Learn how to create a mosaic of tiny fabric squares, using your sewing machine and fabric scraps, and an ingeniously simple technique
Please bring: your sewing machine and any fabric scraps you’d like to use (or rummage in the studio fabric boxes) lightweight interfacing scraps

 10 OctoberKNITTING WITH RECYCLED FABRICS: learn how to knit a bag from a T-shirt! Recycle an old friend into something useful
Please bring: old T-shirt or similar jersey fabric item; large knitting needles (if any)

 31 October - BATIK: experiment with the ever-popular technique of painting on fabric using wax resist and silk paints, to create vibrant fabric designs

 7 NovemberBABY SHOES/BOOTS: the perfect gift for a new arrival! Make an adorable pair of handsewn shoes or boots for a baby, in leather or felt
Please bring: any leather or felt scraps (handmade felt ideal) you might have

21 NovemberSTAMP PAD PRINTING: discover how to create your own printing blocks using erasers and/or Softcut and lino tools, and use stamp pads to print them on fabric or paper – ideal for Christmas cards
Please bring: any coloured stamp pads and lino cutting tools you might have

 5 December NEEDLE-FELTED DECORATIONS: create a set of needle-felted Christmas decorations, using wool tops and cookie cutters
Please bring: any wool ‘tops’, needle-felting needles and cookie cutters you might have

19 December LAVENDER BAGS: make some gorgeous contemporary lavender bags, ideal as last-minute gift ideas
Please bring: your sewing machine, and any fabric scraps and ribbon offcuts you’d like

 16 January DORSET BUTTONS: learn how to create these ancient buttons, hand-embroidered around a small ring. Use them to create unique jewellery as well as fastenings

30 JanuaryTRANSFER PAINTING: experiment with ironing painted transfer paints on synthetic fabrics, to create vibrant designs using overlays, stencils and resists
Please bring: any synthetic light-coloured fabric pieces; stencils such as leaves, doileys

 13 FebruaryFABRIC TRAPPING: a fun way to create an exciting base on which to free machine embroider, using bubble wrap and fabric scraps
Please bring: your sewing machine (with embroidery/darning foot if you have one); old ‘small bubble’ wrap pieces, and any small scraps of paper, fabric, yarns for chopping up

 27 February WEAVING: using alternative materials and frames, create some interesting surfaces and textures using a traditional technique in an innovative way
Please bring: any old ‘weaving looms’’ such as old wire cooling racks, oven shelves; or frames to ‘warp up’ eg metal/wooden rings, picture frames
